Gift Cards, Twitter and Tumblr!

So today we got some brand new gift cards in, they look super sexy and would make a great gift for anyone who's a tattoo lover, or even someone who's always ummed and ahhed about getting one and just needs that last little push!

These are available to buy now and can be used either for tattoos or piercings.

If you're up on twitter, Jo is posting a lot on there now with what we're up to at the shop and putting up some tattoos here and there, so go have a look @AccTattoo and I'm sure you'll find some "interesting" tweets on there.

And I have my own blog now on Tumblr, at thegentlemantattooist.tumblr.com. I'll still be posting work on here but as Eva and I will both be posting on here it could get a little confusing, so this will be just my stuff, and when Eva sets up her own page I'll post a link on here as well.

And lastly some tattoos!

This is the second session on Anthony's leg, might squeeze another quick session in before Derby but if not we'll have a nice long session and get it finished there, as long as he's a brave boy!

Started this Boog piece last night, should finish it in the next few weeks.

This is a pin up drawn up by Jo, it's similar to the one we have outside the shop but with just a few changes to it. Looks really nice in flesh and we might put some shade in it, but I think it looks like a good piece as just line work.

Get Zombified!

So I am totally in love with ZombieBooth and have been zombifying most of my household and basically anyone who will sit still long enough for me to take a picture of them (including the pets). I know this app has probably been out for ages but I am always one step behind and only just discovered it (well my friend Karla put me onto it). Anyhoo, if you want to download it make sure it's not "Zombiebooth Lite", you want the real deal. So much fun, cannot get enough.

I think my Zombie self is much prettier then my normal self. Matt just looks how he always does, crazy :P

Ok, that's not really what your here for is it? What's been happening. A lot actually! As you know from previous blogs we had Terry here from Melbourne. So it's been lovely having him here. Thursday Terry and I were lucky enough to have some time to take a quick trip to the Adelaide Hills. We couldn't let him go back to Melbourne without at least seeing a little bit of what our great state has to offer. YES we do have great stuff to offer! Anyone who says Adelaide is crap has never been here!!! I will not hear otherwise thank you very much! *Rant against Adelaide haters*

Anyways, so we started at Mount Lofty Lookout for a little look see over Adelaide. Second stop was Hahndorf, for those who don't know, Hahndorf is a German town in the hills, which offers a lot of funny little shops and cafes. It's cooler than it sounds, really. We went to the German Arms for lunch and Terry had the most atrocious assortment of meat, appropriately dubbed on the menu as "The German Experience". I bet him $50 that he couldn't eat the whole thing and he proved me wrong- good effort! Then we went to Hans Heysens (famous South Australian artist) house/studio, which was really cool. There is loads of history and Terry shares the same love I have for all things old, historic and slightly creepy. And we ended the day with a wine tasting at Shaw and Smith winery. So an all round good day and we have pics of course!

Here is Shaw and Smith. Being that it is Winter there are no leaves on the vines, it looks much pretty in Summer/Autumn

And the wine, oh the wine....yumo!

Hans Heysens Studio in Hahndorf. This studio is the oldest standing artists studio in Australia. So put that in your pipe and smoke it haters, we got old shit here!

Oh I was so in love with the cuckoo clocks but unfortunately they started at $600 and we got told off for taking photo's of them- party poopers!!

"The German Experience"

Mount Loft Lookout

Oh yeah and tattoo's! There were tattoo's done this week, even though it doesn't sound like it.

Jamie finished this sweet old owl piece on Lauren (artwork by Iain Macarthur)

And Simo got a good start on this chest piece.

Matt got some more done on this dragon sleeve on Cameron (imagine that it's not blurry)

Our Mate Terry tattooing Jarrad. Started tattooing at 10am and they are still at it at 7pm! (brutal)!

And I would like to take a moment to plug our very good friends, COERCE! We went to see them play at Enigma on Saturday night (yes, we went out on a Saturday night, made it past 1am even!) and as per usual they blew us away. Check out the new album "Ethereal Surrogate Saviour". Check em out.

Coerce

And next week I head off to Turkey, I will be gone 3 whole weeks! So I will try and blog before I go but it may be some time before I can blog again. I am excited and nervous to leave. Excited for the trip, nervous that I am not fit enough for a 2 week long trek! I hope to God Matt remembers to feed the dogs.... and himself for that matter! Feel free to drop by with casseroles or home made soups, he may starve to death while I am gone :P

So I will say "Hoşçakal"(good bye in turkish- I think) and see you again when I return.

Sorry just a few more zombie's, couldn't resist.

Big pieces in the pipeline

If you're viewing this on your Mobile then hopefully you're finding the new layout a big improvement! It's a bit more organised and easier to navigate.
At the shop we've had a few big pieces started/ in progress recently and just wanted to share them as I've not been able to post any small ones recently! We're also about a month away from the State Of The Art convention and we're getting all geared up for it, just writing down lists of what we need and getting some tattoos lined up to do on the weekend.

I've had this Koi piece drawn up for over a year now and Anthony's finally decided to get it done. We've got another session to do at the studio and then we're hoping to finish it off at the convention, so it will definitely keep me busy for a little while!

This rose on Christian is the start of a half sleeve. I love doing roses and doing them this size is a really fun project. Got 3 more to put on after this one and then filling the background with leaves and some script.

Mauro's come back for another half sleeve (he had the dragon koi with samurai mask put on his other arm), this time for a dragon. We've had a few sittings with this and I wanted to post an in progress picture to show how it's getting along. It's going to be very bright when it's finished and should fit in very well with his right arm.

Budha and Joshua hard at work

Working, Working, Working.

Here is a cool Daruma in a chrysanthemum Matt did on our old mate Steve today.

So it's been a while since I posted anything that's been happening here. But when I try and think of what's been happening I can't really come up with much, other than working, working and working. Obviously we are all busy as usual but other than that there isn't a whole heap to report. So maybe I will just get straight to pics (of all the working).

Stuff Matt's been up to:

Here is an in progress shot of the koi back piece on Scott. Probably finish this next session.

And an update on the Hannya mask on Dale, still all the colour to go but most of the shading is there now.

Here is the Koi fish leg piece on Shaun. Just the flowers to go pretty much, so not too much longer on this one.

This week the new addition of Attitude Magazine (Adelaide publication for those who aren't from here) came out and we were lucky enough to get a short editorial (page 6, if you want to take a look see). So that was nice to see, it's just a little interview with Matt and a picky of the shop.

Matty started another epic venture on our mate Luke. Here is a pic of the line drawing. It is covering his rib/stomach area, right down to the knee, so massive. This is Jigokudayu (Lady from Hell). Her robe will actually be decorated with scenes of hell- but that will come later. This is just the simple drawing to get on first, all the finer details will be added later. And she is surrounded by skeletons, doing random stuff (great explanation from me, I know). You get the idea anyway, this is going to take a while, so I thought we can take a beginning shot.

Just a candid little shot of Matt starting this epic venture on Luke. I think Matt may get some sick enjoyment out of inflicting that much pain on people.

And here is some of the stuff that Jamie has been up to this week:

Sweet Gramaphone

BOOM! box on the chest.

And here is an in progress shot of the line work on a wolfie chest piece.

And some work Simone has been doing:

Obviously this is just the outline of an epic back piece started a little while back.

Finished up this sleeve.

And this one still has all the colour to go but you get the idea.

So I think we have finally decided that we are officially the worlds worst photographers and we are actually getting a professional to come in and take some shots of everyone's work. So hopefully there will be a bunch of new work up here soon and with way better quality then we have been able to get before. Unfortunately our shop is just way too dark and our camera just too old. And I think  we are just idiots when it comes to taking good tattoo photo's. But anyway, we are looking at rectifying the bad photography very soon, stay tuned!

And just another reminder about Terry James coming next week. We are looking forward to having him. If your interested in getting an appointment with him, he may be able to squeeze a few more jobs in. So send us an email if you keen and see the following blog entry on his work and how to contact him.

Think that's it for this instalment.

Happy long weekend!

ps for those who are interested Matt does post a lot of work as he is doing it on instagram and join us on twitter if your keen to see what we are up to at the shop. @MattDeverson If you have an iphone it's easy and free- join up!

pps I think I have convinced Jamie and Simone to join instagram too, so you will probably see their work on there pretty soon too.
