Melbourne Tattoo Convention!!

So as the title suggests we are heading to the Melbourne Tattoo Convention, 28th, 29th and 30th of January 2011. It's officially called "Rites of Passage". Go visit the website for more information (http://www.ritesofpassagefestival.com/)

It's very exciting, being that it is Matt's first one. There is a lot to plan and do before then but we have it under control (well I do) :P. Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the people who have responded with interest at getting tattooed at the convention, it's been an awesome response! So in saying that Matt has one spot left, so if you were thinking about it, you better get on it! There are just a few stipulations we have for the convention:

  • Matt won't be tattooing anyones necks, ribs, stomach, inside upper arm or lower back (logistically we can't because we only have a chair to work with and can't lay people down).
  • We really need people to be 100% committed if they do book in. We cannot have cancellations (Matt will only be doing 2 tattoos a day and if one doesn't show up, it's really a wasted day for us).
  • Matt really would prefer to have clients give him complete artistic license with each piece he designs. He of course takes what you are after into complete consideration and will take all ideas on board when designing the piece. But the design aspect has to be left completely up to him (this is chance to show case his ability and work and he only wants to do tattoo's that will be a good representation of this).
  • We will be asking for $300 non-refundable deposit when we make your booking.
  • All travel expenses to get to Melbourne and cost involved in getting to convention are at your own expense.
  • We will be charging Matt's normal rate of $160 per hour (with minimum appnt times 4-5 hours, possibly longer).
  • We will be doing consultations within the next few weeks, so we can meet and discuss and for deposit to be paid.
  • Plus the piece has to be Japanese (he is already doing a number of Tradition Old School pieces)
So if your keen you just have to send me an email, with your idea, where you want it and how large. Plus name and phone number too!

In other news, we had our pictures taken for the Advertiser this morning. The publication we are going to be in is the "SA Weekender", which is a lift out in the Saturday Advertiser. Should be around 3 or so weeks before it's in there. Hopefully we didn't embarrass ourselves too much! Unfortunately I was made to get into some of the pics, which I am so unhappy about. Anyone who knows me knows I am not the most photogenic. As well as the fact that I was very ill prepared for a "photoshoot". I was adamant they weren't gonna get me but didn't work out that way. Anywho, should be interesting. Big thanks to Amy Gunt, who came in to get interviewed for the piece too (especially since it was 9am on a Sunday)!! Thanks for that mate, really appreciate it.

For those who have been asking for new merch, it should be on it's way soonish. Matt is working on the last bit of designing today and hopefully within the next month we should have them. We are hoping to do guys and girls Ts, plus tank tops!! Summer is a coming. The older Ts we still have, are now half price (were $40, now $20)- pretty much only larger and XL left but plenty of em!

Japan count down- 3 weeks today!!!!!!!!!! Woop.

That's all.
